We have developed a comprehensive spreadsheet – based on a tool that everyone has – that can be used to capture the Learning Cycle Plan electronically.

Key Decisions - Knowledge Gap Log

All of the Key Decision and Knowledge Gap components are captured  along with their metadata:

  • Key Decision - Impact on Business Case, Known Solution, Last Responsible Moment

  • Knowledge Gap - Knowledge Gap Priority based on Criticality, Uncertainty and Duration

Learning Cycle Plan

All of the  Knowledge Gaps and Key Decisions  are appropriated into Learning Cycle Events and Integration Events.

These “sticky notes” can easily be moved from one cell to another.

Trello / Microsoft Planner

The Learning Cycle Plan is captured in Microsoft Planner (often accessed through Teams) or in a Trello board.

This is a relatively simple and inexpensive option that includes dynamic records that can:

  • Filter the task/cards (but with limited text and labels).

  • Easily move tasks/cards  up and down or between columns.

  • Be updated real-time with comments added for updates and collaboration.

  • Can be marked as completed/archived once the Key Decisions are made or Knowledge Gaps closed. They then will drop off the list, but are still accessible.

Give remote team members real-time access to view and update the Learning Cycle Plan.

There are also a number of extensions to both tools, but be aware that while they may provide more power, they will likely add more complexity.
